This camp is an exciting new topic every day of the week!
Monday: Aviation Design - - Explore the science and history of aviation while testing, building, and launching multiple airplane and wing designs. Discover the secrets behind the SR-71 Blackbird that made it the first stealth aircraft, and the fastest, highest airplane ever to fly!
Tuesday: Electric Laboratory - Experience working with electric circuits by learning how a telegraph uses electromagnets. Create your own telegraph design and practice Morse code. Discover how electric generators and motors work using magnets, and then make your own at home!
Wednesday: Junior Museum Guide - Though the Air Zoo may be closed right now, you can still go behind the scenes with this virtual camp! Experience a behind the scenes look at the Air Zoo’s archives and work virtually alongside the Air Zoo’s Collections and Exhibits department and create your own mini Air Zoo exhibit to display in your backyard!
Thursday: Have a “rocking” good time as you excavate fossils, recreate Michigan terrain with a 5-foot stream table, and break apart geodes. Take a virtual field trip to the WMU Geology Department to explore their museum and Michigan geological samples.
Friday: Materials Science - This is your chance to design and discover new materials and test how they are affected by electricity, temperature and stress. Experiment with polymers, ceramics, metals and composites under unique conditions, create fruit circuits, and manipulate Nitinol memory wire.
